One of the most difficult things a parent experiences is watching their sweet, smiling, happy baby turn into a cranky, crying, drooling little person that is in constant pain from teething. While this is a rite of passage that comes for almost every child, it can be painful and stressful for both the baby and their parents.
The good news is that it doesn’t last forever and there are things you can do to help relieve the pain for your sweet baby! Here are five easy remedies that you can try. See which one works best for your little one!
Teething Rings and Toys
Teething rings and toys are great little tools that can help baby teeth break through the gums. But, they’re so much better if they can be cold to sooth those aching gums. Just make sure you buy the ones that are filled with saline or salt water to ensure the safety of your baby in case their chewing breaks through the ring/toy and a leak occurs.
You may also simply rub baby’s gums with a clean finger or soft, wet cloth. This can help stimulate the gums and the pressure on their gums can ease their pain.
Over the Counter Remedies
There are a few over-the-counter remedies, such as Infant ibuprofen and acetaminophen to combat the swelling, pain, and fever associated with teething. There are also gels that can be put directly on the baby’s gums to temporarily relieve the pain.
Essential oils can be used to combat pain and swelling. One of the best is German Chamomile hydrosol, which can be difficult to find. One that’s more readily available is Lavender Essential oil, which should be diluted according to the age of the child. Just be be sure to use them in accordance with the instructions given.
Amber Teething Necklaces/Jewelry
One of the newest remedies to hit the market is the Amber teething necklaces/jewelry for baby. These work by releasing analgesic-property oils through the baby’s skin using their own body heat. These oils not only relieve the pain, but also the swelling of the gums and offer a natural and drug-free alternative. Parents must be extra vigilant though, as baby can try to chew on the beads.
And, finally, to keep baby clean, dry, and stylish, our line of bandana bibs are a must! There are 3 different styles to choose from Little Rascals, Modern Munchkin, and Sugar & Spice that can be matched with baby’s outfits for a cool and stylish look!
